a poem: sunset

SUNSET

Walking from the rain

The light glistens in reflection

Of seeing me again and again

On the mountain looking another direction.

The footsteps create patterns of ambiguity

Settling slowly into a rhythm

Outside the body, but in the heart

Spacing, pacing as the lights dim.

My song started at another time

Strength and endurance called upon

Unable to resist the words that came before

Over and over expressing time gone.

Shine, shine on me

Let me see

How to be.

The body shakes and shakes

With simple needs unmet

Looking for ground to quiet

And shake into the sunset.

Let it go

Shine, shine on me

Let me see

How to be.

And all the stories spiral faster

As the needs confront the yearning

To be more than walking in the world

But sensing the pulsing as the learning.

Shine, shine on me

Let me see

How to be

Free.
